Blog 10

1) AP. I don't have a second interview yet, and I'm still working on finding someplace for service learning. I plan on devoting all of my time to finding a community theater to volunteer for once the play is finished. On the upside, my independent component is practically done. The final show is tomorrow night, so once it's over, my I.C. is complete.
2) The independent component.
3) Everything else. I don't have service learning, I don't have a second interview, I'm already sick of my topic, etc.

Independent Component 1 Plan Approval

1) I plan on using my participation in the school play (All My Sons) as my first independent component.
2) I'm positive this component will reach the thirty hour minimum. I have rehearsal for the play from 3:15 to 5:15 every Tuesday and Wednesday of every week until December. We have already started the rehearsal process. We will be performing the two-hour play twice on the seventh, and twice on the eighth of December.
3) My EQ is all about getting a job in theatre. I think one of the most important parts of getting into theatre is having experience. With this component, I will get experience with both performing, and stagecraft.

Blog 5: Second Interview Questions

Regrettably, I have yet to find someone to do service learning with. I hope to interview someone in a community theater, and will probably ask questions along these lines:

1. Who are you, and what do you do here at the theater?
2. How long have you been a part of this theater?
3. Do you have previous experience with other theaters?
4. How did you get involved with this theater?
5. And the others?
6. How did you prepare yourself for those jobs?
7. Where did you study?
8. What did you study there? Were you always interested in theater?
9. At what point did you realize that you wanted to be involved in theatre?

Blog 4: Interview 1 & Presentation Reflection

1. Unfortunately, my first interview didn't really come into play when I was planning my five minute presentation. My interview gave me a lot of vague, but quality information that was not necessarily applicable to my five minute.
2. Nothing in particular stood out about my presentation, except maybe how unprepared I was. I figured I could talk for five minutes, but I ended up not having enough quality information. I had to resort to asking the audience random questions. I learned that more information is definitely better. 3. Probably scrambling for something to talk about during my five minute.

Blog 3: Presentation 1

I'll be describing the difference between improv and scripted plays. I figure it's an easy enough idea to grasp, and I can fill up five minutes of talking. I think it can provide a good introduction to my topic by narrowing it down a bit.

Objective: Explain the difference between improvisational and scripted performing.
Procedure: I will begin by asking the class if they know the difference between improv and scripted performance, and not call on anybody on the improv team. If I get a correct answer, I will display my visual, and go into more detail about the different games and rules of improv.
Check for understanding: Ask general questions relating to the rules that I introduced previously.
Materials: My visual(s) will be a script from a stage play.

Blog #2

I am plan to interview Linda B. from Cal Poly's Theatre department. I'm interviewing her because she is the second most readily available of my interview prospects. I think she'll have a lot of good information for me.
I don't plan on asking many additional questions. I'll just see where the conversation leads us. Other than that, I'll focus on the five main questions for the first interview and save the more in depth questions for later ones.

Blog 1: Senior Project Topic

My topic is theatre, or drama. I've been part of Mr. Hogan's drama class for the three years that I've been here, and I'm continuing it this year. I will be trying out for both plays this year, and expect to participate in the Fullerton Festival as well. I have also been involved in the Improv Team throughout my time in the drama class, and will be taking over the position of Improv Team Captain this year. For these reasons, I'm convinced I can stay motivated with Drama as my topic.
After studying Drama more seriously this year, I hope to discover whether or not a career in acting is a worthwhile pursuit.
