Independent Component 1

Literal:
(a) "I, Liam Rudisill, affirm that I have completed my independent component which represents 71 hours of work."
(b) Memorized lines, rehearsed twice a week (at least), stressed myself out beyond belief, and in the end, performed in four two-hour shows.
Interpretive:
71 hours spent rehearsing at school, (not including un-scheduled "emergency rehearsals"), and even more spent at home memorizing lines. I don't know what there is to defend here. The significant parts of this component were the actual rehearsals, and, of course, the shows, as well as stage construction.
Applied:
To get a job in Theatre you need experience. You need to know how to audition for a show. You need to know how to memorize lines. You need to know your way around a stage, and possibly how to construct stage pieces. You need to know how to stick to a rehearsal schedule, and how to perform in front of an audience. I did all of these things during the show. (Note: I'm in the process of changing my EQ, but this answer is basically applicable to any question I come up with.)

Independent Component 1 Plan Approval

1) I plan on using my participation in the school play (All My Sons) as my first independent component.
2) I'm positive this component will reach the thirty hour minimum. I have rehearsal for the play from 3:15 to 5:15 every Tuesday and Wednesday of every week until December. We have already started the rehearsal process. We will be performing the two-hour play twice on the seventh, and twice on the eighth of December.
3) My EQ is all about getting a job in theatre. I think one of the most important parts of getting into theatre is having experience. With this component, I will get experience with both performing, and stagecraft.
